Discover Nicaragua Tour
New Tour Dates Coming Soon

Pacha World and Chela Personalized Destinations join forces to bring you on a Fair Trade tour of Nicaragua.  See first hand how the people of Nicaragua are building sustainable futures for themselves and their families by visiting worker-owned cooperatives.

This nine night tour includes interactive
and educational visits to many different
cooperatives. Our big trip up the mountain
to El Porvenir, a coffee cooperative of over
30 families, is a tour highlight and opens
our eyes to the long and arduous travel of
the coffee bean. Just 30 minutes outside
of Managua, is a woman’s sewing
cooperative. We visit with these women, see where they work and how they became a positive example of fair trade in a country abound with sweatshops and an 80% unemployment rate. Learn more about the women's sewing cooperative: Cooperativa Maquiladora Mujeres.

Children adorn the streets of Nicaragua with their big smiles and hopeful eyes,
yet they often lead such unfortunate lives. Los Quinchos and Proyecto Los
Chavalos are two prime examples of associations that dedicate themselves to
improving the lives of street children by
giving them access to a better future
through education and on site job training.
Watch the boys make hammocks, a highly
desirable job skill in Nicaragua, see where
these former street children now call
“home,” and let them serve you at the
popular Café Los Chavalos. Another treat
is a special performance for us by the boys
of School of Comedy and Mime.

Albeit the tour is focused on such
cooperatives,we shall not let the beauty
of Nicaragua pass us by. The colonial
architecture, impressive volcanoes and
lakes of Nicaragua demand our attention
as well. We take time to enjoy such
natural treasures and find that our days
are fullof both educational and scenic
highlights.

Nicaragua has many treats in store for you, and Pacha World and Chela are excited about sharing these with you. We are dedicated to Fair Trade beliefs in our tour business—paying fair wages, hiring locals, using local supplies, minimizing the environmental and cultural impact of tourism while supporting community projects.

Chela Personalized Destinations is run by Birgit Cory,
a Californian who has been volunteering in Nicaragua
over the past five years with street children. Chela
was created to bring other travel enthusiasts to the
beauty Birgit has found in Nicaragua.
